Once upon a time I wanted to be a cricket commentator… and then I saw Mandira Bedi
Once upon a time I loved reading fairy tales… and then I realized life isn’t about happily ever after
Once upon a time I watched all romantic comedies… and then I discovered the ugly appeal of American Beauty
Once upon a time I listened to mushy pop music… and then I came to know George Michael was gay
Once upon a time I was seduced by Mumbai… and then I fell in love with the small-town charm
Once upon a time I was a little girl… and then I lost my rose-tinted glasses
Once upon a time I was happy… and then I became ‘independent’

So one cant be happy AND independent? I would beg to differ. Too short (the post I meant, honest) but good.
Once upon a time,you dreamed of having enough wealth to splurge....and voila,the genie granted you wish....;-)So my friend,life ain't about sadly ever after either....:-P On a serious note,loved this piece......
growing up/adding the years = innocence lost. Liked it!
@neil
short jokes again? really? u want me to start on the "ugly" jabs? (for the record, you are the ugly one, I am not)
and yes, the opposite of happy isn't necessarily 'independent', but you will be surprised how often the two go hand in hand.
@rahul
thanks! I like that glimmer of hope: life isn't about being sad ever after either...
@jo
pity isn't it? and it's not like we can control it or be sweet 16 forever.
Well placed ;)
liked the Mandira bedi part best ;) (Well, yes, i used to 'watch' her commentary, but never 'listened' to it :D)
disagree on the last line though. The happiest people, according to great me, are the hitch hikers and the nomads. Independent of almost everything.
good words. !
@mili
umm... more clarity please?
@survivingbrain
which is why I changed my career path :)
ahhh... if only there was a unanimous opinion on happiness! so many people wouldn't have been so lost then.
